We cover the subject of license plates in our license plates section. However, here are the answers to some commonly asked questions about license plates.

    What are "tags?"

Your tags are the dated stickers that you'll place on your license plate each year as you renew your registration.

Where can I see all the different plates that are available in Arkansas?

The Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) provides a page that contains pictures of all the plates. Just click on a plate to find out more information about the plate, such as the cost, who may order it, and whether it can be personalized.

Just how many varieties of specialty plates are there?

At last count, there are over 60 types of these plates.

My tags were stolen. How do I replace them?

Just go to a revenue office. Your situation will be examined, and if everything appears to be in order, you will be issued replacement stickers for $1.25.

What about replacing damaged or lost plates?

To replace damaged or lost plates, simply follow the same procedure as that for stolen tags.

How do I apply for disability plates or placards?

There isn't a short answer for this, but you can find out how to apply by reading our Drivers with Disabilities section.

How do I apply for antique license plates?

To qualify, your vehicle must be at least 25 years old, historical, or considered to be a special-interest vehicle. It must also be relatively free of modifications.

    To apply:

    • Provide the registration certificate, or some other proof of ownership that includes the vehicle's year, make, model, and vehicle identification number.
    • If the vehicle is not registered to you, provide either the previous title or the bill of sale.
    • If the vehicle is built from a variety of sources, provide the bills of sale for the main parts.
    • Pay a $7 registration fee.

Do I have to return my Arkansas license plates after relocating to a new state?

    No.
