Page OverviewTop The Basics
When you purchase a new or used vehicle, be sure to get a bill of sale. You'll need it to get a Georgia title and registration and to apply for a license plate. You cannot use a bill of sale to transfer the ownership without a Georgia title, unless your vehicle does not require a title.
The Bill of Sale is available in PDF format. All you need is the free Acrobat Reader software from Adobe.
The Georgia Department of Revenue offers an online, printable Bill of Sale for your convenience. You may also create your own.
Buying a Used Car? Order a Vehicle History Report First
Ordering a vehicle history report is a critical step in the used car buying process. Failing to do so could result in the purchase of a vehicle with frame, flood, or fire damage, odometer rollback and more. Stay on the safe side, and order a vehicle history report before you buy a used vehicle.
