Top Show Me Proof

Applicants who are applying for new driver's licenses or renewing current Missouri driver's licenses must present proof of their identity, residency, and legal presence in the United States. Several different documents are acceptable, although faxes or photocopies are not permitted.

Special Considerations for those Born Before 1930

Because older residents may not be able to produce the required documents, the DOR has developed a list of special considerations for applicants born before 1930. If you were not born before 1930 and need assistance obtaining the required documents, you may download a list of instructions.

Top Driver's License Security Features

Lost or stolen driver's licenses can be used to commit fraud, so the DOR recently redesigned all licenses, permits, and non-driver photo identification cards to include additional security precautions. These features include a "ghost" portrait of the driver, printed data overlapping the portrait, a "Show Me" imprint visible only under ultraviolet light, and a two dimensional barcode on the back of the license.

Top Driver's Privacy Protection Act

Missouri law has amended the Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act to include additional protections for state residents. A business, organization, or private individual may access your name, address, and other identifying personal information contained in your driving record only if they have your written permission or obtain a special security access code.
