Unlike most other states New Hampshire does not require a learner's permit for teen drivers. This does not mean, however, that the state is overstepping its "Live Free of Die" motto, for it still mandates that certain requirements must be met.

To take the wheel in New Hampshire you must be at least 15-and-a-half years old and be accompanied by a licensed adult at least 25 years old in the front passenger seat.

You can apply for a license once you hit 16, provided you have completed a driver education course.

The New Hampshire Youth Driver's License

If you're a driver under the age of 18, you're considered a youth driver and your license comes with a few restrictions.

• You can only drive with one passenger who is under 25, unless a licensed driver over 25 years old accompanies you.

• You can only drive between 5 a.m. and 1 a.m.

• Every passenger must have a seat belt; no more seat belts left, no more passengers.
