What is the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's (PennDOT) Dead Beat Parent Law?
In conjunction with the Department of Welfare, PennDOT can suspend any person's driver's license if he or she has:
- Failed to pay child support for over three months.
- Failed to adhere to a custody order.
- Failed to respond to a warrant or subpoena regarding child support situations.
If I have a motorcycle license, do I have to wear a helmet?
If you are over 21 years old and have had a motorcycle license for two or more years or enrolled in a PennDOT-sponsored motorcycle safety class, you are free to choose whether or not to wear a helmet.
Do I have to renew my license for four years?
Only drivers 65 years or older have the option to renew for two or four years. All other drivers must always renew for four years.
If I'm a new resident with an out-of-state license, do I have to endure another round of tests when applying for a Pennsylvania license?
As long as your license has not been expired for longer than six months and you applied within 60 days of establishing residency in Pennsylvania, you do not have to retest.
Does PennDOT offer a Korean driver's manual?
A driver's manual in Korean does exist, but PennDOT does not endorse it.
How many times can I take my driver's test?
You can test three times per permit. If you are over 18, you must wait one day before scheduling another exam. If you are under 18, you must wait seven days before trying again.
