Top Driver's License Change of Address

Rhode Island requires all licensed drivers to notify the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) within 10 days of an address change. If you don't want an updated photo license, you can download a change of address form from the Rhode Island DMV Web site. Mail the completed form to:

• Pawtucket, RI 02860

If you desire a new photo license that displays your updated address, you will have to visit one of Rhode Island's eight DMV branch office locations. Be sure to bring your current license, the $26.50 processing fee, and proof of residency. Acceptable identification may include:

• A valid Voter Registration Card

• A utility bill (gas, electric, telephone, cable, or oil) in your name or in the name of an immediate family member with the same last name

• A personal check or bank statement with your name and street address

• A valid original lease agreement with your name and address as well as your landlord's name, address, and telephone number

• A payroll check with your name and address

• A welfare check stub or food stamp card with your name and address

• An insurance policy for your home or apartment with your name and address

• A property tax bill for your residence

If you're a minor, your school records and your parent's license/ID with the same address will be accepted.

Top Title & Registration Address Changes

If you have moved and need to update your title or registration, you can fill out a Change of Address form. You can bring it in to the DMV office or mail it to:

• RI Division of Motor Vehicles

• 100 Main St.

• Pawtucket, RI 02860

Taking this step will update your current information on your driver’s license, and in turn, the state will update the documents on your title and registration through its computer system. There is no charge for this transaction.

However, if you need or want to get updated copies of your title or registration documents, you will need to fill out a TR-1 and bring it into the DMV or mail it to:

• RI Division of Motor Vehicles

• 100 Main St.

• Pawtucket, RI 02860

The DMV will then issue you new documents with your new address. The fee for this transaction is $26.50. You can also take care of this procedure at the DMV as long as you bring with you proof of your new address and insurance, your current registration card, and your RI driver’s license.
